News: CIPR 2022 annual report features its first ESG report and successful year

THE Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) has published its 2022 annual report reflecting on a year of growth and increased advocacy. The report includes the Institute’s accounts for the year and its first environmental, social, and governance (ESG) report, outlining its efforts and future plans to promote effective communication around climate change mitigation, social impact, and governance.

The report –
Adapting and Thriving – summarizes and celebrates a successful year for the Institute that saw an increase of over 1,000 new members. Published in an accessible and interactive online format, the report explores the CIPR’s work across the year in line with its five-year strategy. 

It features details of the launch of its Lobbying for Good Lobbying campaign, new research into PR expertise at board level, efforts to support members impacted by the cost-of-living crisis, and the launch of the new CIPR Connect App as well as ongoing projects such as its Research Fund and Reverse Mentoring Scheme. 

It also includes information on the Institute’s commitment to achieving the National Equality Standard to represent the profession as an exemplar of good practice in diversity and inclusion. 

Members will have the opportunity to hear from and ask questions of the past, current, and future CIPR presidents as well as the Institute’s CEO at the CIPR’s AGM on Thursday July 13. They will be joined by guest speaker, author Jon Ronson.

CIPR’s CEO, Alastair McCapra (pictured), said, “2022 will go down as a pivotal year in the Institute’s history. This report shows how we went on the front foot in our advocacy work and continued to strengthen our member offer as we adapted to working as a virtual organization that remains focused on our members. It also marks the beginning of a new era and our first year of reporting on our environmental, social, and governance impact including a forensic look into our approach to equity, diversity, and inclusion.”
